'Yeosu Turtle Ship Festival', the representative festival of Yeosu, the origin of Jeolla Jwasuyeong and a land enshrining the spirit of Admiral Chungmugong Yi Sunshin, is scheduled on 4-7 May at Yi Sun-shin Square in Jungang-dong and Jongpo Marine Park.
Marking 51st anniversary, this year's Yeosu Turtle Ship Festival will focus on 3 themes of patriots, folklore and marine under the main theme of 'Spirit of Jeongyu Year, Coloring the Night Beach of Yeosu'.
Tongje Yeonggil Nori changed the starting point from Yeosu Civic Center to Seogyodong pedestrian overpass, hence the total distance decreased from 2.8km to 2.1km.
On the second day, boy Yi Sun-shin contest, Jeolla Gwasugun's descendant's performance, Eup ․ Myeon ․ Dong community center contest, Jeolla Gwasuyeong marine naval force launching ceremony and marine lighting parade will add to enjoyment of festival.
On the third day will consist of youth band festival, 5-gwan 5-po regional art performance and preliminary round of dragon tug-of-war at Yi Sun-shin plaza and Jongpo marine park. And on the final day will consist of various competitions including Yi Sun-shin golden bell quiz, businessmen band festival, Turtle Ship singing contest and cultural performances by art companies.
