After April, out of the 588 confirmed cases in Yeosu City, only 38 (6.5%) were breakthrough infections
Starting the 1st of next month… Private meetings of up to 12 people can be held and business hour restrictions for all businesses except entertainment facilities are being lifted
The Mayor of Yeosu City, Kwon Oh-bong, made a request to the citizens during the monthly business report held at the Disaster Control Center on the 29th for a safer and better daily life in the face of the gradual return to normal starting on the 1st of next month.
Mayor Kwon requested that “the citizens keep the basic preventive guidelines more strictly, including wearing masks, washing hands, and ventilating indoors, in the face of returning to normal” and also that citizens reinforce checking for fever at multiuse facilities, keeping a list of visitors, and using safe calls.
He continued, saying, “After full vaccinations started in April, breakthrough infections in our city were only 6.5%, which was 38 out of 588 confirmed cases.” He also emphasized, “Citizens who have not been vaccinated yet, we hope you get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
Also, after asymptomatic and mild cases have shifted to being treated remotely, the mayor requested, “Please carefully stick to all the guidelines regarding self-quarantine and self-care, and please cooperate with the instructions of the medical institutions and public health authorities.” He also said, “The city is systematically partnering with medical institutions and fire departments to quickly respond 1:1 in case an emergency patient situation occurs, and we’ll thoroughly supervise the patient transfer system.”
Mayor Kwon said, “Like how countries that have started to return to normal have seen a sharp rise of confirmed cases, if we’re not thoroughly ready and the citizens don’t cooperate well, we might have to go back to restrictions again.” He revealed that “the city is more on the edge than ever before and will do its best for the safety of its citizens.”
Starting on the 1st of next month, the new quarantine system ‘Gradual Return to Normal’ Level 1 will be carried out.
Excluding entertainment facilities, all multiuse facilities’ business hour restrictions will be lifted, so 24-hour operation will be possible. But, for academies and schools, these new rules will apply after November 22nd, after the College Scholastic Ability Test ends, for the safety of the test-taking students.
As for private meetings, regardless of vaccination status, the limit is 10 people for the capital area and 12 people for the non-capital area. However, for restaurants and cafes where the risk of the spread of COVID-19 is high, only up to 4 unvaccinated people can gather.
Only entertainment facilities have a restriction on business hours, closing at 12 midnight for Level 1, and once the city transitions to Level 2, this restriction will also be lifted.
However, for karaoke bars, bathhouses, indoor sports facilities, entertainment facilities, and multiuse facilities with high risk of infection, only visitors that have been vaccinated or have received a negative PCR test can enter through the ‘Proof of vaccination and negative confirmation system.’
Events and assemblies can be attended by up to 100 people regardless of vaccination status. For people who have been vaccinated, received a negative PCR test, or are under 18, up to 500 attendees are allowed.
For marriages, if there are less than 49 unvaccinated people, up to 250 attendees are allowed. For regular religious gatherings, the gathering can allow up to 50% of full capacity including unvaccinated attendees, and if the gathering is attended by only vaccinated people, there are no capacity restrictions.
