Foreign diplomatic corps of BIE (Bureau International des Expositions) member nations and executive staff of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and their spouses totaling 120 visited Yeosu, a candidate city for the 2012 Expo.

Ninety five people including foreign delegate couples from some 60 countries, of which 36 are BIE members, watched a presentation for the Yeosu 2012 World Expo in the city auditorium and were reminded of the city’s determination to land the Expo. Immediately upon arrival, they were told the current status of the city's preparations to host the Expo.

Mayor of Yeosu said in a speech asking for the delegates’ support, “Yeosu has been blessed with over three hundred islands and islets and has the historic turtle ship invented by General Yi Sun Shin. The Yeosu Expo will promote the prosperity of mankind and the city would like to share the joy and benefits with the citizens of the world through the Expo.”

The participants toured the Hallyeo Marine National Park, visiting Odong Island and the Yeosu World Expo Promotion Hall and confirmed the city’s resolve to host the Expo and inspected its conditions and settings.
