-Every Wednesday…The elimination of illegal advertisements and litter
Yeosu City, which will be hosting the International Exhibition in 2012, is trying to clean-up the city through ‘Clean Wednesday’.
For 2 hours on the afternoon of the 27th, Yeosu City removed the illegal advertisements in Yeosu Yeomoon zone, Jinnam Building, Hakdong Central Building, and other towns under bad condition, and also cleaned up other litter along the roads.
About 1000 Yeosu City employees from 27 towns, 50 departments, and 11 counties, and members from the Advertisement Department and Street Vendor Order Department of Yeosu City Exhibition Committee participated in ‘Clean Wednesday’.
There were also participants from the Advertisement Association, Saemaeul Groups from eup, myeon, and dong, the Village Chief Committee, the Moral Life Movement Association, and the Village Resident’s Autonomy Committee.
They wore ‘Me First Movement’ vests and concentrated on cleaning up banners, standing sign boards, air lights, posters, and litter on the streets.
The Mayor of Yeosu City, Hyeonseop Oh, also participated in ‘Clean Wednesday’ and said “We made ‘Clean Wednesday’ which is part of the ‘Me First Movement’ for the successful hosting of the 2010 International Exhibition and were joined by all of the government officers first from this month.”, and he also said “We plan to activate this movement even further by encouraging all of the citizens to participate as well.”
