Joseon Gil Nori of Samdo Navel Forces Tongjeyeong, Nation’s best historical parade finally revealed its spectacle to Yeosu citizens and many tourists.
This highlight program of the 42nd Jinnamje, the main event of Yeosu’s “Turtle Ship” Festival opened on the 2nd and it was held from Yeosu Citizen Hall to the Ocean Park about two hours on the 3rd.
The soul of General Lee Sun Shin and the spirit of Yeosu’s ancestors who gave their blood for the nation to fight off the Japanese Invasion of Korea at the end of 16th Century were revived at Tongjeyoung Gil Nori.
Tongjeyeong Gil Nori was redesigned into a parade 42 years ago.
Government agencies, schools, companies and citizens participated in this Tongjeyeong Gil Nori.
Twenty five sections marched in the parade.
First, police cars and mini Pangokseon (ship) started ahead of the parade and the Naval Band and the Honor Guard Drill Team began a military review to the military music played by the Naval Band.
The next was a flag parade in which various flags were marched. Especially, Mayor Oh Hyun-Sup and heads of major organizations participated in the parade in traditional costumes. Delegates from all over the world also joined in their own folklore costumes.
Following the flag parade, the Ochung Parade of five heroes including General Lee Sun-Shin, Jeong Cheol Jeong Rin, Jeong Chun and Jeong Dae-Su along with Korean Grand Folk Music Band, the Memorial Tower for nameless naval forces, the Ceremony Lamp Parade, the “Turtle Ship”, the Jwasuyeong and the Arsenal continued.
Especially, the procession of the naval forces and the strategy conference of Jinhaeru were recaptured, the Sahuseon, which played the role of the Cheohuseon, the Panokseon, and the Turtle Ship were presented.
Along with these, General Lee’s Hyo, Hangeo and Oksure were paraded before the eyes of all who attended.
Mayor Oh Hyun-Sup said, “The meaning of ‘Jinnamje’, referring to the wish for our nation’s prosperity and people’s wellbeing by gaining control over the South Sea (Japanese pirates)’seems more valuable today than before and this parade was successful thanks to the voluntary participation of the citizens.”
