The 2012 Yeosu Expo Organizing Committee hosted a meeting at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul on Jan. 29. Former Prime Minister Han Deok-Soo (current ambassador of the Korean Embassy to America), Dongwon Group Chairman Kim Jae-cheol and Senior Advisor of Joongang Ilbo, Lee Eo-ryeong and other members of the High Advisory Group attended the meeting.
During the meet and greet between the High Advisory Group and executives of the organizing committee office, related staff explained the preparation status of the 2012 Yeosu Expo, and the attendants discussed promotion plans for the Expo to encourage public participation.
The Chairman of the 2012 Yeosu Expo Organizing Committee, Chang Seung-woo said the Expo facilities will be constructed favorably without any glitches this year, according to the plan, and based on the Expo General Plan, which was approved by the BIE(Bureau des International Expositions) last December. He emphasized that related staff will prepare high-level exhibition contents, while working tirelessly to attract international participants and companies as many as possible.
For this purpose, in January, the organizing committee restructured its organization from one, division, three headquarters and 18 teams, to one Secretary-General, five headquarters and 22 teams. It also plans to introduce the MP (Master Planner) system to use external experts for each area.
The High Advisory Group was organized in September last year with a membership of 22 prominent leaders with experiences and great reputation from various fields, including universities, mass media, culture and arts, and women's organizations. They have since provided advice to the organizing committee in preparation and also they have contributed to increase public attention and support for the Expo.
