- Yeosu Yeojaman Sunset Festival to start on October 23
- Touched by the beautiful view of sunset over the horizon
Clean Yeojaman sea! When the flat sea bed appears, people sail across the mudflat on a mud sledge or run across the mudflats catching cockles and Manila clams.
Yeosu Yeojaman Sunset Festival will take place from October 23 to 24 in Jangcheok Village Sagok-ri Sora-myeon Yeosu where the beautiful glow of the setting sun rests quietly over the vast mudflat.
It is a much-awaited, natural ecological festival that merges the red sunset of the autumn sea, loving memories and family experiences of the ocean.
The main programs include the opening ceremony; sunset photography contest; sending balloons/messages of hope and Yeosu Silver Band’s performance. There will also be various activities that highlight the uniqueness of Yeojaman, such as searching for the gold clam, digging for cockles and Manila clams, riding mud sledges, fishing with nets, treasure hunting and trying mudflat food and seafood.
There will also be a marine parade by winners of Yeosu traditional nori and acoustic guitar performances, which are expected to present deep memories of autumn to visitors.
“This year’s festival is based on mudflats, sunset and other natural scenery and local specialties. It will be filled with rich and touching experiences,” the festival committee chairperson Cheong-hyun Kim said. He added that he wished many visitors would attend the festival.
Yeojaman is accessed by the winding coastal road and lies near a cluster of coffee shops that follow the gold field. It is imbued with the beautiful autumn of the southern region of Korea.
