The exhibition of 2012 Yeosu World Expo introduce the first ocean robot park in the World.
The organizing committee of 2012 Yeosu World Expo revealed that it will promote the creation of an ocean robot park using advanced robot technologies as the star project in order to stimulate interest and curiosity in and out of Korea and to differentiate this expo with previous expos.
"Live sea and breathing coast," the theme of the expo will be materialized with various ocean life robots and advanced IT technologies and images. The ocean robot park will become an exciting theme space in which visitors can interact with robots through actual experiences.
The committee completed the basic survey about currently developed robots and advanced robot technologies by requesting it to Korea Association of Robot Industry. 1,500㎡ space was prepared in the exhibition, and the project began in earnest.
For the creation of the ocean robot park, a public offering for business parties will be made from the end of March, 2011. Major shipbuilding companies using much advanced robot technologies are showing interest.
Previous World Expos introduced advanced robots as well. However, an exhibition with various forms of advanced robots as one theme like the ocean robot park is the very first attempt. It is expected to gain much interest of domestic and international visitors and press.
