President Lee Myung-bak has bought tickets for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. President Lee paid a visit to the office of the Organizing Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea to celebrate the inauguration of the KTX Jeolla line whose final destination is Yeosu Expo Station. President Lee’s visit was accompanied by Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Kwon Do-youp, South Jeolla Province Governor Park Joon-yung and local citizens.
President Lee bought 50 Standard Day Passes for adult and 50 Standard Day Passes for youth online at the office of the Organizing Committee. The ticket price is 33,000 won (about $29) for adult, 25,000 won (about $22) for youth, and 19,000 won (about $17) for child and senior citizen. Until the end of 2011, there is a 10 percent discount for those who buy their tickets online. The tickets adopted the designs of the official Yeosu Expo posters, which won the renowned Red Dot Design Award. Tickets have built-in, cutting-edge RFID chips for visitors’ convenience at the Expo site.
Many citizens also lined up to buy tickets alongside President Lee, including the oldest Yeosu Expo volunteer Lee Jae-sun, member of the Yeosu Expo SNS Supporters Kang Jung-won, college PR team member Kim Jin-ok, and an English teacher working in the Lifelong Education division of the Yeosu City Roberto Baron. Kang Jung-won, who traveled to Yeosu taking the first train of the brand new KTX Jeolla line, said, “As I buy tickets for Yeosu Expo, it feels like Yeosu Expo is just around the corner,” adding, “I’m honored to buy my ticket together with the president. Being here makes me want to promote the Expo harder.” Kang, who has about 5,000 Facebook friends, has been working actively as one of Yeosu Expo SNS Supporters since early this year, promoting Yeosu Expo by communicating with social networking site users.
Different categories of tickets for the Expo are currently on sale: Standard Day Pass, Peak Day Pass, Two Day Pass, and Three Day Pass. Ticket reservations can be made via Yeosu Expo’s website (www.expo2012.or.kr), Interpark (www.interpark.com), or through the Interpark Call Center (82-1544-1555).
