The First Key to the International Pavilion Is Handed over to China

China has become the first country to have the key of the International Pavilion of Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea.
The Organizing Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea handed over the key to the International Pavilion to the Chinese delegation headed by Mr. Du Ze Tian, The ceremony was held at the International Pavilion on November 1.
China was the first country to receive the key to its pavilion, which is by far the biggest with its size of 1,241m2. The China Pavilion is located in Block D of the International Pavilion, and their exhibition theme will be ‘One Ocean, One Home.’ In the China Pavilion, the theme of coexistence of human and the ocean, protection of the maritime environment, and sustainable marine development technology will be exhibited in three areas, which are Sea Wave Exhibit, Sea Development Exhibit and Sea Love Exhibit. The Head of Chinese Delegation, Mr. Du Ze Tian, said in the ceremony, “We will focus on presenting China as a leading nation in maritime affairs as well as our dedication to sustainable development as we stage our exhibition. We are sure of the popularity of our pavilion during the event, which is expected to be visited by more than 600,000 visitors during the Expo.” The preparation of the exhibition displays is done by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
On November 1, six other countries – Brunei, Indonesia, Belgium, Singapore, Croatia, and Kazakhstan – received the keys to their respective pavilions as well.
The participating countries that received the keys to their pavilions will begin the preparation works for their exhibition starting from November, which will continue until April next year. The International Pavilion, after going through test runs, will be opened to the public on May 12.
Each Official Participant will showcase their sea-related exhibitions during the Expo. The International Pavilion is the largest pavilion of all (132,649 m2) and will have an exotic look with design inspired by the islands and waves of the Dadohae (Archipelago) Marine National Park. The International Pavilion is composed of four blocks, and each block will be divided into sectors for the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans.
The International Pavilion is 77% completed, and it is expected to be completed by mid January next year. The Organizing Committee completed the interior works first so that the Official Participants may start working on their own pavilions as soon as possible.
Mr. Shin Nam-sik, deputy director general for Participants’ Pavilions of the Organizing Committee said, “With the hand-over of the keys, the installation of exhibitions will begin.” He then added, “Other great marine powers, such as Germany, Italy, France, and Japan, will have their keys handed over very soon.”
