‘Expo SNS Supporters,’ a volunteer corps to promote Yeosu Expo through online activities, are in the limelight as they broaden their horizons across the continent to Europe.
About 50 members of the SNS Supporters, who are Korean students studying in the U.K., performed various promotional activities for Yeosu Expo at ‘United Cube Concert,’ held in London on December 5. ‘United Cube in London’ was a large-scale K-pop concert, featuring a number of famous Korean pop stars, including 4minute, Beast and G.NA, and drew enthusiastic cheers from more than 5,000 fans who came to see them from all over Europe.
The SNS Supporters handed out leaflets, took photos with K-pop fans at the concert venue, and continued their promotional activities the next day at several famous locations in London. Many of the K-pop fans who visited the concert on the previous day showed their great interest in the promotional activities, and the SNS Supporters further promoted Yeosu Expo by posting every moment of their activities on the official English Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/Expo2012.En) for the web users around the world.
Behind the promotion activities was Mr. Yi Seok-hyung, 22, a SNS Supporter and the president of the London Metropolitan University Korean Society who planned and orchestrated all of the activities. Mr. Yi said, “The interest in K-pop and Korea is growing significantly in the U.K. as well as other parts of Europe.” He then added, “By taking this opportunity of the K-pop concert in the U.K., we wanted to tell people about Yeosu Expo, which is the biggest event to be held next year in Korea. Also, we SNS Supporters will continue to draw the interest of Europe’s K-pop fans in Yeosu Expo by letting them know that a number of K-pop concerts will be held during the Expo.”
