(Yeosu, Korea) The Principality of Monaco opened its pavilion today under the theme “The Historical Commitment of the Principality of Monaco to Protecting the Environment, Seas and Oceans.”
During the EXPO, H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.S.H. Princess Charlène will visit the Monaco Pavilion leading a diplomatic mission on the National Day of June 3. H.S.H. Prince Albert II is dedicated to protecting ocean environment and will participate in various events, including Monaco cultural performances and a reception during his visit to the Monaco Pavilion.
Furthermore, H.S.H. Prince Albert II will preside over the Monaco Blue Initiative on June 4. The Monaco Blue Initiative (MBI) is a global platform co-organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Oceanographic Institute, Foundation Albert 1st, Prince of Monaco that brings together different actors sharing a common commitment to the sustainable management and preservation of the oceans. At the third edition of the MBI in Yeosu, the focus will be on the integrated management of marine protected areas, highlighting innovative initiatives from the Asia-Pacific region and sharing new perspectives of international cooperation for the sustainability of oceans.
Catherine Fautrier, Commissioner General of the Monaco Pavilion, said, “I hope that we can stimulate visitors’ understanding of the commitments and policies of Monaco through this three-month exhibition. We are the smallest of participating countries at EXPO 2012 Yeosu, but will demonstrate Monaco’s will and high specialization in protecting oceans.”
