EXPO 2012 Yeosu Korea is the place where Korea's well-known corporations fiercely and beautifully compete with each other.
Pavilions hosted by domestic corporations include seven Corporate Pavilions, namely Hyundai Motor Group, Samsung, SK, LG, GS Caltex, LOTTE and POSCO pavilion. The number of visitors and their reactions would mean the result of the competition for the corporations.
Each corporate spares no effort in presenting its future vision to visitors as well as providing exciting spectacles with state-of-the-art technology. Visitors have only to enjoy the beautiful competition.
Let's see the exhibition concept and contents beforehand.
Hyundai Motor Group Pavilion
The main concept of the Hyundai Motor Group Pavilion is, "Creating Better Future with Humankind" by expressing the vision of the company.
Inside of the Pavilion, a history of automobile models produced by Hyundai Motor Group is displayed and the dynamic scene of cars driving on a tube rail will welcome visitors. ‘Comprehensive experience pavilion’ on the second floor provides dynamic images on the three different walls. The fast changing images of grand scale will excite visitors. (About 25 minutes are required)
SAMSUNG Pavilion
With the theme of "Corporate Responsibility and Efforts on Environment", Samsung Pavilion presents sophisticated and well-refined performance. The connecting space that takes visitors to the third floor by escalator also presents images and graphics to visitors so that they can realize risks and threats to the Earth.
When visitors stand up in the auditorium in multimedia theatres on the second and third floor, they will spot a fantastic multimedia image show into which performances and images are incorporated, which highlights efforts to save the Earth from crisis. (About 28 minutes are required)
SK Telecom Pavilion
The theme of the SK Telecom Pavilion is “happy sailing”. It wishes the happiness between Human & Technology, Human & Human and Human & World. A biometric-data measuring device is installed on the ground floor, providing visitors a chance to check and receive their health data via mobile devices. They can also experience safe driving technology at vehicles displayed at the site.
On the second floor, visitors can enjoy various new media art works that combines traditional artworks with mobile technology. Smart phone movies are presented on the third floor to showcase the rapid development of mobile technology. (About 60 minutes are required).
LG Pavilion
The LG Pavilion was built with energy-saving materials and methods. It is powered by solar energy and maintains the inside temperature with running water outside of the pavilion. It also has a rooftop garden where visitors can take break and relax.
It consists of 5 exhibition spaces in total. Exhibition space #1~3 delivers the message of abundant future in 2050 by projecting images of moving sculpture. Exhibition space #4 presents 3D performance that took motif from solar energy plasma. Media contents that are hidden in the nature at Exhibition space #5 bring joy and relaxation to visitors. (About 25 minutes are required).
GS Caltex Energy Field
It presents the future vision and effort of GS to create a world where the nature and humankind can coexist. Energy field in front of the pavilion is packed with 18 meter tall blades that swing back and forth to the wind. Walking inside energy field will get visitors to feel the dynamism of the nature. The blades light up at night and interact to human touches.
The procedure of generating energy from solar panels is showcased inside the pavilion, including a video clip that emphasizes the importance of continued energy circulation. (About 30minutes are required).
LOTTE Pavilion
Miniatures of amusement park-like LOTTE Pavilion decorated the interior like a forest path in a fairy tale in line with the theme of the "World in full enjoyment". A 360-degree rider theatre delivers dynamic feeling to visitors as if they are flying in a hot-air balloon. Four dimensional videos are also provided to help visitors experience a rich journey from sky to the ocean with vibration, smoke, and wind.
The embodiment of the network and cloud, created by covering the whole building with a net, delivers a unique image. The pavilion also has places where visitors can rest and enjoy Yeosu’s beautiful ocean.
POSCO pavilion
The theme of POSCO pavilion is 'Communication.' Exhibition space that gives a feeling of exploring inside of huge nautilus will present five interesting stories namely love, challenge, the world and the environment.
At the end of their journey, visitors will arrive at a massive space that embodies a cochlea and spiral inner space of clams. Symphony performance resonating through a huge soundbox and unique animation will be played. The “Four cute big man show”, projected onto the external wall of the building at night, is also a must-see.
The Yeosu Expo which had the first visitor on May 12th will be held for 93 days until August 12th. It will be a global festival that promotes climate change and the importance of the ocean, where visitors can enjoy various cultural performances through 80 thematic facilities and pavilion. 104 countries and 10 international organizations are participating at the event.
