The Legendary Patti Kim Performs in Yeosu
Special Performance for Yeosu Expo on July 16
“Eternal Diva” Patti Kim, who is considered as a legendary figure in the Korean music scene, visits Yeosu for the Expo Pop Festival in the evening of July 16th.
Kim has been very active both in and out of the country since her debut at the Eighth United States Army in 1958 with numerous hit numbers including “Song in Praise of Seoul”, “Don’t Forget You”, “The Light and Shade”, “Dear Maria”, “Farewell”, “Early Rain”, “Love Forever”, “Love Gone with Autumn Behind”, and “The Thorn Birds”.
Her other works include an NHK performance on an invitation from the Japanese government in 1960, Korea’s first-ever individual recital show in 1962, the nation’s first original musical “Sneak Up On Me” in which Kim acted a major role in 1966, and a concert dubbed “Patti Kim Recital—Love Songs of Seoul” in 1978, which was first for a pop singer to perform at the prestigious Sejong Center. She continued to make Korean music history, with achievements such as holding a concert at the Carnegie Hall in New York for the first time as a Korean singer.
Kim’s performance on the Expo Pop Festival stage on 16th will mark the end of her concert tour for the first half year. During the show, she will collaborate with a fifteen-strong orchestra and an opera choir, mixed with a rhythmic drumbeat, to captivate the audience mostly in their 40s and 50s, presenting her mega hit numbers such as “Don’t Forget You”, “The Thorn Birds”, and “I Can't Live Without You.”
Kim, who gladly changed the concert schedule in the U.S. to perform on the Yeosu Expo stage, said “Being on the stage at Yoesu Expo means a lot to me, as it is a global maritime festival opened to people around the world.” “Now that I’m retiring after 55 years on stage, I will present an unforgettable performance to the audience,” she added.
