Visitor number on an all-out increase at Yeosu Expo
140,000 visitors on July 21…
Southern coast’s must-visit for holiday-goers
Yeosu set yet another record on the number of visitors to the Expo.
The Organizing Committee explained that on Saturday of June 21st, the starting weekend of the vacation season for schools and companies, the number of visitors who entered the Expo reached 140,100, taking the accumulated number to over 4.4 million.
The “Expo Pop Festival” stage alone, which featured K-Pop idol stars “Super Junior” and “CNBLUE”, hosted near 40,000 fans on the day, heating up the night scene at the Southern coastal city.
The Committee, to meet the demands of some 100,000 tourists who chose to stay late into the night at the Expo, ran its iconic Big-O show three times in the day for the first time, up from its usual once-in-a-day operation on weekdays.
July 21th also celebrated the “Coast Guard Visit Day”, where the public had a chance to lay their eyes upon a coast guard vessel and watch a life-saving training performance at the Big-O ocean stage area, which further contributed in raising the theme of the ocean at the Expo.
With summer vacation in full swing, the Committee says, “Expo fever” is gripping the entire country, prompting a spike in the number of visitors. It is said that visitors are now more motivated than ever to make a visit to the Expo, as it has only 20 days left to the closing.
Students are also feeding the Expo fever. Groups of students from elementary to high schools from across the country are taken on a field trip to the Expo, including 970 students from Suncheon Maesan Girls' High School who toured the Expo site right after their summer vacation had started out at the place.
Now, Yeosu Expo, which presents quality educational contents for students and future agenda for other visitors, has only 20 days to go before it ends on August 12.
