-Inheriting the Expo spirit and strengthening city competitiveness by efficiently
making use of the venue after the 2012 exhibition

The city of Yeosu sets itself out to inherit the Expo spirit and maximize utilizing the exhibition venue after Yeosu Korea establishing Expo ractical se epartment.

The city says that the department is composed of 16 people four practical use support, commemoration business, international cooperation, and MICE industry.

ractical se epartment is going to play a role in supporting the exhibition foundation which has replaced the Exporganizing ommittee broken up at the end of January reopening the venue, in commemorati inheriting spirit of holding the Expo, and in promoting the first anniversary for the successful exhibition in Yeosu.

In addition, the department is going to contribute to inviting not only international conferences but also national international events, and to vitalizing regional economy by utilizing a variety of accommodations and convention facilities expanded after the Expo.

, from now on, building up a close relationship with the exhibition foundation, the city of Yeosu plans to strengthen its competitiveness by making the exhibition venue a base for international maritime tourism and leisure sports and by fostering the place as the centerpiece of marine tours in the southern coast.

A city official says, "We are spurring ourselves to attract tourists while training local accommodation owners. Last year, in the beginning of the Expo, rip-off prices from accommodations and restaurants let local economy be in slump. We shouldn't do it again. We are also striving to develop various programs people like running shuttle buses."

Meanwhile, the city of Yeosu has notified each department of diverse countermeasures and promotion plans which are under the goal of getting into the era of 10 million tourists with million people in Suncheon Bay Garden Expo 2013 held from April 20 to October 20 six months.
