From Oct. 1 through 4, Yeosu City participated in LA Korean Festival and Excellent Farm Product Expo and through promoting Yeosu specialties, racked up the largest ever sales of 350 million won.At the festival, eight companies including Yeonsu Myeongga that make and process the city’s representative agricultural and fishery products presented 32 items, which really impressed local Koreans with the city’s taste that got them nostalgic.
Returning to the event for the fourth time, the city conducted promotion based on the experiences of the previous corporate participants and with a focus on marinated crabs, mustard greens kimchi, anchovy, dried mussels, and salted seafood. As a result, some of the items were so popular that they ran out even before the event came to an end.
Especially, dried mussels, marinated crabs, anchovy, and picked mustard greens impressed the buyers of the distribution companies so much that the city has decided to promote their supply to 144 large marts in North America. Furthermore, as the US television shopping channels have shown great interest in the products, they are expected to land successful export contracts soon.
