In 2015 National Government’s General Assessment, Yeosu was chosen as the excellent city in Jeollanam-do, receiving a financial incentive of 30 million won.

National Government’s General Assessment is conducted every year targeting seventeen regional local governments to check their implementation of tasks relegated from national government, nationally subsidized projects, and major national policies.

The Assessment focuses on the nine areas of general public administration, welfare & society, public health & hygiene, regional economy, regional development, culture & women, environment & forest, safety management, and key projects, and is conducted through objective procedures such as an online assessment system, on-site verification, and cross-check.

This year’s assessment was carried out for about six months from February through June on 26 policies and 238 specific indicators in 9 areas. The city was selected as the province’s leading excellent instance in the fidelity of the emergency medicine network in public health & hygiene, the implementation of air quality improvement in environment & forest, and marine safety (marine pollution) in safety management, thus receiving the best assessment grade of ’ga’.

Meanwhile, Yeosu was selected as the province’s excellent city in 2014 National Government’s General Assessment and received a financial incentive of 20 million won.
