Yeosu City Hall this year will seek to attract well-performing businesses at home and abroad and encourage them to invest in the city through municipal support. All of the city's departments will work hard together to reach this goal.
Last year, Yeosu put a lot of effort into attracting businesses and as a result, the city won an award from the 2015 Jeollanamdo (South Jeolla Province) Investment Promotion Index. The city concluded investment agreements with 35 manufacturing and tourism businesses worth a combined 3.67 trillion Korean won. This is also expected to help create more than 2,500 jobs.
Yeosu now seeks to attract businesses in high value-added areas in manufacturing and tourism to transform the city into a marine tourism hub. To that end, the city government is readying a campaign called "One Department Attracts Investment From One Business." And each department will have an officer in charge of investment promotion under the planned campaign "Make Every Public Servant an Investment Promotion Officer."
A workshop will seek to raise the scale of investment attraction and after a regular briefing session is held, a planned incentive program will reward exemplary staff in the "One Department Attracts One Business" campaign.
The director of the city's investment promotion division said, "We'll do our best to stimulate the regional economy based on attraction of businesses and investment in tourism."
