Starting on Sep. 23, The Residents’ Self-Governing Committee of Jungang-dong in Yeosu runs the Program for Trying on Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s uniforms.
City people and tourists participating in the experiential program put on admiral’s uniform, commander’s uniform, and sailor’s uniform. Starting from Yi Sun-sin Square, they take a tour of Jinnamgwan and then join a commemorative photo session.
Having already drawn great reaction from tourists, the program is establishing itself as an experiential tourist package that allows people to feel Yeosu as the patriotic defense in the Imjin War.
Uniform Try-on operates in front of the turtle ship on Yi Sun-sin Square from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The fee is 10,000 won for admiral’s uniform, 7,000 won for commander’s uniform, and 5,000 won for sailor’s uniform. Commander’s uniform for children costs 3,000 won.
From the very first day of its operation, the program met positive reaction from city people and tourists. Close to the uniform try-on, signal kites which Admiral Yi used in the battles are also on display, adding more popularity to the themed tourism program.
Enabling participants to remember and sample the lives of our ancestors during the Imjin War, the unique program is expected to serve as an exciting venue for learning our history.
