May is the family month. Weather is perfect for family outings, too. Perhaps for the reasons, the old city center of Yeosu, visited by 13 million tourists for two straight years, is already crowded with tourists.
The keyword for the Yeosu marine tourism is ‘romance’. Yeosu has plenty of attractions only available in the city, such as Korea’s first maritime cable car and ocean rail bike against the backdrop of ‘Yeosu’s Nightly Sea’ as the romantic icon, double-decker night view city tour, nightly ocean pleasure boat, and sky tour.
Tourism in Yeosu adds to these pleasures and romantic experiences the nature-given natural sea view, fresh seafood all the year round, and the mild climate with an annual average temperature of 14.5℃.
The city has started 2017 Yeosu Nightly Sea Romantic Busking, which lasts from Apr. 21 through Oct. 22. From 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening, the romantically imbued nightly sea of Yeosu unfolds high-class street shows that cannot be enjoyed anywhere else in Korea such as dance, acoustics, a full band, instrumental presentation and performances.
The city also prepares Yeosu International Busking Festival, which will offer performances by Korean and international buskers, art market, and street parade for three days from Aug. 4 through 6.
Furthermore, starting in May, the city operates free experiential programs in coastal areas of its downtown so that everyone can enjoy marine leisure sports. At Soho Yacht Marina, visitors can enjoy yacht, kayak, and paddle boat, and at Ungcheon Beachside Park, they can sample yacht, paddle boat, snorkeling, and skin scuba diving. Visitors may enjoy a free kayak ride at the EXPO site. It is an exclusive offer from Yeosu. Famous for dark sand beach, Manseong-ri Beach Resort also offers an opportunity to sample kayaking from Jul 14 when it will open.
Inasmuch as the city has been honored with Consumer Brand Grand Prize in International Marine Tourism City for two straight years, Yeosu is emerging as the marine tourism city representing Korea.
