Yeosu City is racing to attract investments to disperse its tourists out of its old city center and create new experiential tourist markets.
On the 21st of last month, the city signed a 80-bil.-won-worth investment agreement for building ‘Yeosu Ocean Queen’s Park’ as an international tourist resort in San 102, Yongju-ri, Hwayang-myeon.
As its key facilities, Pororo Theme Park, Terrace House, and Townhouse will be made available by 2020.
Earlier in August 2015, the city signed an investment agreement for developing 230-bil.-won-worth Challenge Park Tourist Complex in San 355, Najin-ri, Hwayang-myeon.
Challenge Park is going to complete by 2018 the first stage of various adventure facilities such as luge, skyride, zipwire, challenge course, and forest tour on the site of 510,000㎡ in Najin-ri. The second stage will build housing including hotel and pool villa, and the third stage will create youth training center and international conference center by 2022.
It is reorganization into maritime cultural tourism, which focuses on Dolsan and old city center, and experiential maritime tourism, which focuses on Ungcheon and Hwayang Peninsula.
