The 22nd Yeosu Hyangilam Sunrise Festival from Dec. 31 thru Jan. 1

The sunrise festival will be held to make wishes for the new year of Musul at Hyangilam in Yeosu, which is one of the country best four sunrise spots.
Yeosu City will hold the 22nd Yeosu Hyangilam Sunrise Festival in Impo Village, Dolsan-eup from Dec. 31 through Jan. 1, 2018.
The theme of the festival is “The energy of the Musul year harbors new hope”, and it presents various programs such as sunset watch, pungmul street play, romantic busking, and New Year’s Eve Bell-Ringing.The main events will begin with sunset watch on the afternoon of Dec. 31. As Pungmul street play and romantic busking will be performed on the main stage, thus galvanizing the sunrise festival.
Following the countdown to the New Year, the bell will be rung 33 times from midnight. With the bell–ringing, fireworks will be presented to celebrate the New Year.
The events welcoming the first sunrise of the New Year will begin with Yeomyeonggil Play, a performance with a collection of drums. Following the first sun of the New Year, folks will get together mingling as they wish for bountiful fishing and farming and safety and wellbeing for everyone.The city not only prepares diverse programs but also meticulously checks its measures to steer clear of inconveniences that may affect tourists.
More than anything else, the city will get as much temporary parking as possible around the event venue to ensure smooth traffic flow and clamp down on illegal parking.
Available parking spaces will be 2,030 spaces including 200 spaces at the National Park parking, 100 spaces at Sunrise Park parking, 400 spaces at Bangjukpo parking, and 1,000 spaces at Jukpo Samgeori (‘3-Way Intersection’).
More buses will be deployed to Impo on Dolsan, which is the event venue, and nine buses that ply between the National Park parking and Jukpo Samgeori will also be deployed.
Especially, to disperse the tourists, the city will also hold sunrise festivals at 23 sunrise spots such as Manseong-ri Beach, Odong-do Island, Jasan Park, and Gubong-san Mountain.
