[Administration] Mayor of Yeosu City, Kwon Oh-Bong held round-table conference for communication with journalists
- In a briefing room, before noon March 27, 2019, More than 40 journalists participated…. Discussed on current issues such as City Museum and Yeosu-Suncheon Rebellion and etc.
Mayor of Yeosu City, Kwon Oh-Bong continued his connectivity actions by means of meeting with journalists.
. Yeosu City announced the mayor and around 40 local journalists had a round-table conference for the 1st quarter at briefing room of City Hall around AM11:00 March 27.
This conference was held to explain and answer for the core policies, projects and main issues of Yeosu City to the journalists.
On the day, the mayor explained the current issues of Yeosu City in 5 categories to the journalists.
The main issues were activation of EXPO site, Youth Marine Education Center, expansion of elderly job position, fostering innovative school, world island exhibition, establishment of city museum, establishment of Namsan Park and safety experience education field of petrochemical industry in Yeosu.
The mayor told the professional organization will operate Youth Marine Education Center and maintain it as a facility for Korean youth and foreign youth as well.
In addition, the mayor mentioned he will make Yeosu global Korean Hansang(Businessmen) convention for the event inviting many local small and medium enterprises and the opportunity of job finding for local young.
He emphasized that Lee Soon-shin Library will be operated for 4th industrial revolution data center and foster Hwayang High School as a foothold for innovation of Yeosu education through inviting superb teachers and introducing differentiated programs.
He explained that the discussion for movement of Nangmanpocha(Romance Cart Bar) interested highly by local residents is going well with Iksan local road administration, and it will be concluded in September.
He said he will cooperate with citizen society for world island exhibition, Yeosu City project to be held in 2026. For the City Museum in ahead of on-site survey by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on 5th of May, he will unfold the pan city cultural remains donation movement once the project is decided.
In addition to these, he expressed his position of welcoming the ‘re-trial of Supreme Court on the victims of Yeosu-Suncheon Rebellion’ decided by All-Lord-Agreement-Assembly of Supreme Court on 21st of March and willing to continue the memorial project and citizen movement for establishment of special law.
Mayor, Kwon said, “I will share the local issues with journalists and heighten the citizen sympathy through round-table conference.”
Yeosu City has a plan to hold the round-table conference with journalist in every quarter.

Yeosu City (Mayor, Kwon Oh-Bong) is exerting its fullest effort to prepare for pre-feasibility study on establishing City Museum.
City authority revealed its plan to intensify all administrative forces on site survey planned on May 5th for City Museum by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism(MCST).
This on-site survey was decided while the application for feasibility study on establishment of Yeosu City(Public) Museum passed for credential assessment by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 21st.
On the day of on-site survey, the pre-assessment evaluation committee composed of related experts will check and investigate the museum establishment plan and possessed cultural remains at Lee Soon-Shin Park.
Yeosu City has a plan to launch “Yeosu City Museum Establishment Implementation Committee’ which will convert the craze and willing of 300k citizens on early April.
And the wishes of congressmen, provincial and municipal council members and local citizen groups will be delivered to the evaluation committee members.
At same time, the storage and Yeosu folklore exhibition hall will be aligned and decorated.
A related city official said, “this assessment is a very important procedure which can be criteria for project approval and granting of national budget’, and “we will do our best for preparation for the best results from on-site survey.”
The assessment on the feasibility study for public museum is performed twice per annum for all organizations planning the new construction, expansion and movement of museum. Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decides the final project based on the presentation by local government after selecting the local government presented projects through summing the score of 1st credential assessment and 2nd on-site survey.
