On January 27, Yeosu City took preventive measures against epidemics and started all-out counter measuring by appointing the vice mayor for the chief as the 2019n-CoV out broken from China diffuses worldwide and the national risk warning for the contagious disease was leveled up to 'Alarming.' According to Yeosu City, the headquarters is composed of 16 crews in 4 teams such as general team, epidemics survey team, monitoring·promotion team and contacted people control team and the teams maintain 24 hours surveillance system for supervision, epidemic survey and contacts control monitoring.
On January 23 before New Year Day, the city authority installed the selection examining posts equipped with air tent and mobile negative pressure unit at health center and 2 hospitals in Yeocheon, Cheollanam-do and distributed the level D medical institution protective clothes to Yeosu Cheonnam Hospital, Jaeil Hospital and Korea Hospital. The city will strengthen the monitoring in connection with Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and Cheollanam Province and establish the cooperative system with Yeosu Airport and National Yeosu Quarantine Office.
At the same time, the city authority will make the best efforts to block the infection of 2019n-CoV in local community by strengthening the preventive actions such as the distribution of hand sanitizer to the event places, senior citizen centers and nursery facilities.
