On September 4th, Yeosu City announced the installation of the intensive lighting unit, LED lamp on the road cross and zebra cross to reduce the traffic accident and protect the citizens. The LED light is the illumination device for the night time drivers to extend the visibility and it helps to prevent the traffic accident by recognizing the pedestrians easily in the night or raining. .Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology verified that the LED light extends the visibility of the driver from 73m to 115m and has effect of reducing the night time traffic accident as the rate of pedestrian watching out right and left side improved from 36% to 58%. City Authority has installed the light at 704 crosswalks in 321 points till the first half of 2020. In the second half, 48 lights will be installed on 10 points within the children protection zone. A city official told, "installing the light on the crosswalks will contribute to prevent the traffic accident on the pedestrians', and "we will build up Yeosu City as a human oriented safety city by extending the project for citizens' safety."
