Residents highly responsive and neighboring municipalities eager to imitate the program
Mayor Kwon O-bong of Yeosu had his first day of ‘2021 Open “On-Tact” Talk with City Residents’ with people who live in Nam-myeon of the city at 7 p.m. on Feb. 22 to give ear to the vivid voices of city people.
This year, Covid-19 makes it almost impossible to hold any face-to-face events. Therefore, the venue was attended by Mayor Kwon, Provincial Councilor Lee Gwang-il, City Councilors Park Seong-mi and Jeong Gwang-ji, officials of Nam-myeon Office, and Public Communication Group Manager, who met with about ninety residents of Nam-myeon through an online video meeting on Zoom.
Mayor Kwon reported on the achievements during the first half of the 7th city adminstration elected by popular vote and the key details of the city administration plan and agendas for the second half. Afterwards, he heard seven cases of grievances and suggestions from the residents of Nam-myeon and responded to them right away, thus demonstrating a heart-to-heart communication.
The city residents who participated in the ‘on-tact’ talk were highly responsive, as the online dialogue delivered sufficient information on the directions for the city administration and processed suggestions committed to the improvement of the city administration.
Meanwhile, neighboring municipalities such as Haenam County are benchmarking the city for improvements.
