The move to be completed in 3 days from Feb. 27 and the staff operation starts on Mar. 2
The construction of Jeollanam-do Media Center for Viewers on the old site of Munsu Building has to be done soon
As the Munsu Building was classified to D-Grade in Safety Inspection, which required a prompt evacuation, the city (Mayor Kwon O-bong) disclosed on Feb. 18 that the eight departments would be moving to the temporary annex in Guk-dong and resume work on Mar. 2.
According to the city, the temporary annex in Guk-dong has remodeled the Cooperation Hall on Chonnam National University Guk-dong Campus.
The departments continue their operation in the Munsu Building until Feb. 26 and will complete their move through the three off days starting on Feb. 27 before they resume work with March.
The temporary annex in Guk-dong is a 4F building with a floor area of 4,940㎡. Its first and second floor is to be shared with Chonnam National University and will be used by regional self-halp center among others. Third and fourth floor will house 180 or so workers for 1 bureau, 2 teams, and 8 departments who will move from the Munsu Building.
The moving offices are Fishery Management Dep't, Fishery Production Dep't, Maritime, Seaport & Leisure Dep't, and Island Resource Development Dep’t under Ocean, Fishery & Forest Bureau, Water Supply Administration Dep't, Water Supply Dep't, and Sewage Treatment Dep't under Water Supply & Sewage Project Team, and Public Development Dep't under Urban Facility Project Team.
A city official said, “The city will do everything it should to draw up a plan for the move and bring city-wide publicity to it, lest it should cause any inconveniences to city people.”
Meanwhile, the city planned the construction of Jeollanam-do Media Center for Viewers and Youth Community Center by purchasing the old site of the Munsu Building. However, the City Council put on the backburner the municipal properties management plan submitted by the city and disapproved the requested budget for it, calling it ‘a waste of budget’. This threatens the hosting of Jeollanam-do Media Center for Viewers that has secured 5 billion won as a national fund through an open call.
Currently, the city, which has requested the City Council to retract its decision to postpone the two municipal properties management plans, awaits a decision at a temporary session of the 208th Yeosu City Council on Feb. 18.
