To reduce the greenhouse gas by 40% until 2030 and meet the rapidly increasing hydrogen demands, the participating businesses are planning to invest on commercialization of carbon dioxide collection and storage technologies for replacing the grey hydrogen as well as hydrogen fuel cell development projects and ammonia-based hydrogen production projects.
Mayor Kwon Obong of Yeosu City said “We hope that MOU will be the chance for developing Yeosu Industrial Complex into the energy hub in Northeast Asia. As Silicon Valley led IT innovation in 2000s, Hydrogen Valley focusing on hydrogen will be leading the world economy in 2050 carbon neutrality era. Yeosu City will be at the center of the carbon neutrality.”
To foster hydrogen industry, Yeosu City established “Basic Plans for Fostering Hydrogen Industry in Yeosu City” and planned the hydrogen industry fostering strategy based on the phased fostering roadmap differentiated from other regions. Yeosu City is heading toward the center of hydrogen economy.
