Yeosu City, Love’s Temperature fires up to 150℃ as a part of ‘2022 Hope Sharing Campaign’
Break the record by reaching the highest ever KRW 1,370,780,000: Social vaccination for us all!
On the 15th, Yeosu city announced the breaking of the donation record from the 2022 Hope Sharing Campaign, held for 62 days from December 1 last year to January 31 this year, by achieving the highest ever KRW 1,370,780,000.
Despite the continuous economic depression due to the prolonged COVID-19, donations flew from all social standings achieving KRW 459,490,000 more than the target figure of KRW 911,280,000, which is a 150% higher achievement than the target.
With this, Yeosu city demonstrated its powerful fund-raising ability with the highest donations among 22 cities and counties in Jeollanamdo this year as well as donations of more than KRW 1.1 billion for 3 consecutive years.
It is evaluated that Yeosu citizens’ love of neighbors and strong community spirit is evaluated has shown their high value amid adverse conditions such as COVID-19 and economic depression.
Kwon Oh Bong, the mayor of Yeosu, appreciated “many citizens participated in donations with one accord during this hardship of all” and “Yeosu citizens’ mature civic awareness and love of neighbors was felt once again by witnessing fund-raising achievements breaking the previous record each year.”
He also added, “I will put more efforts to improve our city where there are no marginalized people and no neighbors in need by gathering all sincere donations of our citizens.”
In the meantime, donations collected from the 2022 Hope Sharing Campaign will be used for the poor, the marginalized, and the prevention of diseases including the support of COVID-19 recovery, the emergency support for households with crisis, the care support of the socially weak, the support for education and self-reliance through Community Chest of Korea in Jeollanamdo.
