'Positive Response' in Efforts in Communicating with the Residents... 64 Suggestions from 10 Eups/Myeons/Dongs (regional districts)
Ontact (face-to-face online) conversations to take place until April 1
The City of Yeosu announced that the 'Open Conversations with Citizens' it has been conducting ontact (face-to-face online) is smooth-sailing despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.

According to the city, the mayor met up with residents from a total of 10 eups/myeons/dongs, starting with Sora-myeon and Yulchon-myeon on March 11, and ending with Jusam-dong and Dundeok-dong on March 17.
The citizens responded positively, saying that they got to learn about the municipal administration through open conversations and they appreciated the event being hosted in the evening as it allowed office workers to attend and families to attend together.
This year, the ontact open conversations with citizens were attended by a total of 200 residents, 100 people from each of the two eups/myeons/dongs. A video describing the municipal administration and demonstrating the characteristics of eups/myeons/dongs was played, followed by communication time with the residents.
A total of 48 video suggestions and 16 written suggestions were submitted during the communication time with the residents during which the residents' complaints, local long-awaited projects, etc. are escalated.
Key suggestions in eups and myeons included the expansion/pavement of farm roads and village roads, installation of village sewage treatment facilities, maintenance of convenience facilities, etc. In dongs, various suggestions on long-awaited regional projects such as measures on parking, road/environmental maintenance, tourism, etc. were given.

Mayor of Yeosu, Oh Bong Kwon, said: "We will devise plans and implement them for the next 100 years of Yeosu through conversations with our citizens. We will actively reflect the citizens' suggestions to promptly resolve their inconvenience."
Meanwhile, the City of Yeosu will be wrapping up the 20-day ontact open conversations with citizens on April 1, at Sijeon-dong.
