On the 6th, Yeosu city announced the award of the Grand Prize in 'International Maritime Tourism and Recreation City' at the awards ceremony held in the Lotte Hotel in Seoul.
'the Grand Prize from the Korea National Brand' is managed by New York Festivals, one of three Advertising Festivals in the world, and is a prestigious award for selecting Korea's best national brand by evaluating the National Brand Competitive Index per field.
National Brand Competitive Index (NCI) is calculated by consumer's evaluation per index including ▲brand awareness ▲representative ▲satisfaction ▲loyalty ▲global competitiveness and ▲favorability, etc.
Yeosu city received a total score of 77.01 in the International Maritime Tourism and Recreation City, past many cities including Sinan, Namhae, Wando, Geoje, etc., and ranked in 1st place.
Benefits of the award are Yeosu promotion on the New York Festivals website, cooperative advertisement, and banner advertising in Korea's major press.
In particular, Yeosu city plans to hold the '2026 World Island Exhibition in Yeosu, Korea' and its award for 7 consecutive years with the Grand Prize notes that the city is recognized as Korea's best maritime tourism and recreation city.
The city analyzed the background for this achievement that many tourists nationwide visited Yeosu after the recovery of the depressed tourism demand due to COVID-19 by the 4-consecutive years of selection of 'Odongdo Island and Yeosu Expo 2012' as Top 100 Tourism Spots in Korea, and the selection of 'Jangdo Island and Hahwado Island' as Top 25 Safe Tourism Spots for Summer and Autumn in 2021.
