Establishing its position as the best administrative city in the province… 130 million won for commercial expenses and 20 million won prize secured

The city of Yeosu was selected as the 'Excellent Institution in Jeolla Province' by the 2022 joint government evaluation.

As a result, Jeollanam-do was selected as an excellent institution for the first time for 8 consecutive years, thereby reinforcing its position as the best administrative city in the province.

The ‘joint government evaluation’ is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Interior and Safety and Security in joint efforts with related central administrative institutions on state-mandated affairs, auxiliary projects, and major national policies performed by local governments.

Evaluation is conducted through collective verification by a joint evaluation team of central government departments, cities, and provinces and through mutual verification among cities and provinces.

Through this selection, the city of Yeosu secured 130 million won for commercial expenses and 20 million won prize money while being honored for being an excellent institution for 8 consecutive years.

Yeosu Mayor, Oh Bong Kwon, said: “We could achieve excellent results in the joint government evaluation notwithstanding the difficult times we underwent due to COVID-19 thanks to the employees did their best in their respective positions. These results are meaningful as our city's excellent administrative capabilities were recognized both internally and externally."

He added: “I hope that 2,000 odd public officials will unite and demonstrate their administrative capabilities in the future to provide administrative services that citizens can find value in."
