Securing 70 million won as a financial incentive by winning the Job Awards for 4 consecutive years
Yeosu-si (Mayor: Jeong Kimyung) announced on the 22nd that it won the Excellence Award at the "2022 National Awards for Local Government" hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
It was shown that Yeosu-si's job policy has shown steady results by winning the Grand Prize in 2019 and 2020 and the Excellence Award in 2021, followed by the 4th consecutive year of job awards.
Yeosu-si received a financial incentive of 70 million won thanks to this Excellence Award, and this is planned to be used as a financial resource for regional job creation projects for young people and young adults next year.
The "National Awards for Local Government" is an award awarded by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to 243 local governments across the country by comprehensively evaluating their job creation performance and improvement efforts.
Yeosu-si's close cooperation between local employment governance centring on the Labor-Management Civil Administrative Council in Yeosu-si, industry-university convergence promotion support project, and youth job creation in connection with local universities such as early employment contract department operation support, tourism industry nurturing and manpower nurturing projects tailored to local industries following the remodeling of industrial complexes received good evaluations.
In addition, the establishment of a petrochemical safety experience training centre, the creation of a safe working environment within the Yeosu Industrial Complex, such as the establishment of an integrated infrastructure for disaster response in the industrial complex, and the revitalization of the social economy through a five-step development strategy from the establishment of a dedicated organization to the establishment of a joint store were recognized as major achievements.
In the quantitative evaluation, the employment rate in 2021 was 64%, up 0.1% from the same period last year. In the case of the number of regular workers, employment indicators also improved, reaching 70,800, an increase of 900 from the same period last year.
Mayor Jeong Kimyung said, "We will create good jobs and revitalize the local economy by fostering new growth future industries and accommodation-type marine tourism industries. To this end, we plan to further strengthen the cooperative system between regional employment governance.”
