188,347 people visited for 10 days, wishing for successful hosting of 2026 World Island Exhibition, Yeosu, Korea and attracting COP33

Yeosu-si (Mayor: Jeong Kimyung) announced that the "Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea's 10th Anniversary Event" held for 10 days from the 22nd to the 31st of last month was successfully completed.

According to the city of Yeosu-si, a total of 188,347 people visited Yeosu EXPO Ocean Park during the event period.

During the first three days of major events such as the commemoration ceremony, 58,793 people gathered and felt the heat of citizens and tourists.

In the "Memory Wall, a Limit Hall" prepared to contain the message of the visitors, the contents of the 10th anniversary of the Expo and the love of Yeosu were filled mainly.

Officials from all walks of life, such as government officials and those who made great efforts to host the fair, who attended this commemorative event, looked at the aging facilities and expressed deep consensus on the prompt promotion of the post-use of the Expo site.

In particular, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, in a commemorative speech on the first day of the event, to express their will to use it in the future, said, “We look forward to the swift passage of the National Assembly for the amendment of the Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea Special Act to promote public-led post-application. We ask for a lot of interest from the citizens of Jeollanam-do and Yeosu-si in the Special Act Amendment.

Jeong Kimyung, Mayor of Yeosu-si, said, “This 10th anniversary event will be a signal that connects Yeosu’s past and future.”, and also "We will do our best to successfully host the 2026 World Island Exhibition, Yeosu, Korea and to attract COP33 for the shared growth of the South Central region of the southern coast and a leap forward as a hub city on the southern coast.”
