Yeosu-si announces the "Job Comprehensive Plan of the 8th Municipal Government Elected by Popular Vote" with the goal of reaching a 70% employment rate
Yeosu-si presents a four-year job promotion road map and selects four primary strategies and ten action tasks
Yeosu-si (Mayor Jeong Kimyung) revealed on January 17 that it announced the "Job Comprehensive Plan of the 8th Municipal Government Elected by Popular Vote," with the vision of "Yeosu, a beautiful port, and a happy city on the south coast full of jobs."
According to Yeosu-si, it will concentrate its administrative power by 2026 in order to achieve a 70% employment rate and create 50,000 jobs.
As a result, Yeosu-si selected the four primary strategies for job creation as follows: job administration innovation through communication and harmony; fostering future industries and creating jobs for technical talents at the initiative; balanced job growth with SMEs and micro enterprises; and the realisation of a citizen-centred job welfare city.
To begin, a regionally tailored job project will be promoted, utilising regionally specialised resources such as the Yeosu Industrial Complex, the hydrogen industry, marine tourism and the leisure industry, all of which are strengths of Yeosu.
In addition, a self-sustaining job environment will be established by creating jobs in the private sector, such as through the smartisation of industrial complexes and attracting corporate investment, in conjunction with the private sector-led creation of jobs, which is the new government's job promotion direction.
Furthermore, specialised job project strategies by target and class, such as youth, women, and seniors, will be strengthened, and social economy-based job projects will be promoted.
Consequently, Yeosu-si plans to establish an annual implementation plan and strengthen local employment governance by cooperating organically with associated organisations, job councils, and executing organisations.
"We will achieve the target of 70% employment and 50,000 new jobs during my tenure with the power that has won the grand prize for jobs for four consecutive years," Yeosu Mayor Jeong Kimyung said, "in response to the future's new growth industries, we will lead the development of the south coast by creating high-quality jobs."
