In this webfest, where 1,306 works were submitted from 76 countries including the UK, the US, and countries in Europe and Asia, 53 awards in three categories were honored at the awards ceremony on the 6th, breaking through the fierce competition.
The web drama "Hamel" produced by Yeosu City won a special award, and South Korea's "Great Legacy" in the web content category, South Korea's "City of Penguins" in the short-form category, and Spain's "Howl" in the music video category were each honored.
Prior to the awards ceremony, Yeosu City signed MOUs with the world's leading webfest organizing committees such as the United States (World webfest), the United Kingdom (British web Awards), Brazil (Rio webfest Awards), and Slovakia (azyl) to firmly establish overseas networks for future win-win cooperation.
Annie Qing Han, a British web content producer, said, "I was surprised by the high-quality event achieved by small and medium-sized cities in the Republic of Korea and the beautiful scenery of Yeosu." Mayor Jung Ki Myung said, "The trophies I gave to the winners were configured to Hamel Lighthouse and the seagull, the official city bird, highlighting the characteristics of Yeosu." In addition, he said, "In line with the media being consumed across the border, we will solidify our domestic and foreign foundations and do our best to establish an international marine tourism and resort city brand."
Meanwhile, the 1st Yeosu International Webfest, which was held as the first instance held by a local government in the country, presented an opening ceremony, a forum on the theme of "The Direction of Web Content Development and Utilization of Local Content Items," a free web drama presentation, and a variety of K-Pop performances.
