The City Bus Fare Will Increase from October 1st.
The rate of fare increase is 13.3 percent. Residents are advised to actively utilize the "K-Pass" with a possible refund of city bus fares
Yeosu will raise city bus fares from Oct. 1.
The rate currently being applied has been maintained since Sep. 1, 2020, and the rate adjustment has been decided for the first time in four years.
According to the city, the decision applied the "13.3% increase in city bus fares and rates in the province" decided by the Jeollanam-do Consumer Policy Committee on June 26, and Yeosu City will consult with neighboring cities to minimize inconvenience to its residens and apply it from October.
As a result, the city bus fare will be changed from 1,500 won to 1,700 won for the general public, from 1,200 won to 1,360 won for middle and high school students, and from 750 won to 850 won for elementary school students.
However, municipal policy projects such as "Yeosu City 100 won bus for elementary, middle, and high school students," a 100 won discount on transportation cards, and free transfers (limited to once within 60 minutes after getting off) will remain the same.
In addition, Yeosu City's use of the "K-Pass" transportation card, which has been in effect since May 1, can save public transportation costs.
Anyone over the age of 19 who is a resident of Yeosu City can get a "K-Pass" through the K-Pass website (korea-pass.kr) or the smartphone app. Residents who use public transportation more than 15 times a month can receive a refund of 20-53% of the transportation cost.
A city official said, "The fare increase is an inevitable decision to improve the management of transportation companies that are facing difficulties due to rising transportation costs due to high oil prices and rising labor costs." He added, "We hope that residents will actively use the 'K-Pass' card to help reduce the burden of transportation costs." The city will do its best to provide better public transportation services.
