Yeosu City Honored with ‘Korea SNS Grand Prize’ for 9 Consecutive Years, Achieving Two Crowns

- ‘Best Prize’ in the category of City to ‘Yeosu Story’ with 7 channels that cater to 140,000 subscribers in appreciation of its two-way communication
- ‘Grand Prize’ in the category of Tourism to ‘Healing Yeosuya’ with 8 channels that cater to 388,000 subscribers, in recognition for its work in promoting major events such as 2026 World Island Exhibition, Yeosu, Korea
Yeosu City (Mayor Jung Ki Myung) won the ‘Best Prize’ in the category of ‘Basic Local Government/City’ and the ‘Grand Prize’ in the tourism sector of the ‘2024 Korea SNS Award’, cinching the honors for 9 consecutive years.
In particular, winning the Grand Prize was the first such instance for the city. It was the result of constant communication with city residents and tourists through the successful Yeosu International Webfest which was the first of its kind in the country with participation from 76 countries, introduction of timely destinations, and content items that tap into seasonal food.
Yeosu City uses various social media such as Naver Blog, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to operate the official city channels of ‘Yeosu Story’ and the tourism channels of ‘Healing Yeosuya’.
In addition, we operate ‘SNS supporters’ that engage city residents to promote major events such as the 2026 Yeosu World Island Exposition and hidden spots in Yeosu. We also introduce the tourism and mice industry through overseas social media as in UK, US, China, and Japan, and are receiving great response from foreigners.
Coming to this year, the city has held a ‘60 Seconds to Enjoy Yeosu ― Short Form Contest’ to bring not only municipal but also nationwide publicity to Yeosu with differentiated content, reportedly receiving high scores in the evaluation categories of social media content, quality, storytelling, activity, and communication.
Mayor Jung Ki Myung said, “I am pleased that the city has won two crowns as a result of its efforts to promote policies through social media” He added, “as the most important foundation of the 8th municipal government elected by popular vote consists in communication and harmony, we will further activate the social channels and always listen to the voices of our city people.”
On the other hand, sponsored and supervised by the Korea Association for Social Contents’ Development and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korean Influencer Industry Association, the Korea SNS Grand Prize, is awarded annually to companies, public institutions etc. based on a comprehensive evaluation of their ability to utilize SNS. It is recognized as a prestigious award by the South Korean social media industry.
