Over 84,000 Visitors Enjoy Marine Fireworks and a Lightning Drone Show
The 2024 Yeosu Fireworks Festival came to a spectacular close on November 2, lighting up the autumn night sky with dazzling marine fireworks and a stunning lightning drone show.
Yeosu City reported on November 5 that the festival, held under the theme Fireworks Meet the Future on the Sea at the Yeosu World Expo venue, attracted approximately 84,000 visitors.
Additionally, hotels, shopping areas, apartments, parks, and various locations across the city were packed with visitors eagerly awaiting the event from early in the day. Including these visitors, total turnout was estimated to have exceeded 180,000 people.
This year, the festival’s stage moved from Yi Sun-sin Square to the Yeosu World Expo venue. The new location utilized a spacious open area near the theme pavilion, where high-altitude fireworks captivated audiences of all ages, creating a magical and memorable experience.
Before the fireworks show, the lightning drone display mesmerized the crowd, while a reenactment of cannon fire from a turtle ship drew audible gasps of excitement.
To ensure safety, Yeosu City mobilized over 700 safety personnel in collaboration with the Yeosu Police, Yeosu Coast Guard, and Yeosu Fire Department. Measures such as traffic guidance and detour management were also implemented to maintain order and ensure a smooth flow of visitors.
Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong stated, “Thanks to everyone’s dedication to crowd management, the festival concluded without any major safety incidents. I sincerely thank the citizens, visitors, and everyone who worked tirelessly on-site to make this event a success.” He added, “We will prepare an even more spectacular fireworks festival next year to welcome our visitors.”
