A City-Wide Celebration of K-Content
The global tourism festival ‘2025 MyK FESTA in Yeosu,’ which blends Korean Wave (Hallyu) culture with local tourism resources, will take place over three days from June 13 to 15.
Held in partnership with the ‘2025 MyK FESTA’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), this Yeosu-based event will run under the theme “To Yeosu! To the World! To the Future!” It will showcase a wide range of unique K-content that incorporates Yeosu’s history and tourism assets.
Highlights include the 'Jeolla Jwasuyeong Dukje Festival & Naval Fleet Departure Ceremony,' based on Yeosu's historical heritage as the headquarters of the Jeolla Left Naval Command for 400 years during the Joseon Dynasty, and a 'K-Pop Concert' headlined by top artists such as STAYC, ONF, xikers, LIGHTSUM, Ailee, Jeong Seung-won, and Paul Kim.
The 'Jeolla Jwasuyeong Dukje Festival & Naval Fleet Departure Ceremony' will be held at Yi Sun-sin Square. It will be complemented by traditional Korean music (Gugak) performances at Jinnamgwan Hall and the 'Yi Sun-sin Storytelling Day & Moonlit Walk Tour,' designed to captivate visitors' senses.
The 'K-Pop Concert' will take place twice, on June 13 and 15, on a special stage behind the Sky Tower at the EXPO Ocean Park. Pre-show events will feature performances by international K-Pop cover dance teams from countries like Türkiye and the Philippines.
Additional programs include a grand 'Drone Light Show' with 1,000 drones as the concert finale, a K-Pop competition called the 'Digilog Concert,' 'Romantic Busking & Youth Busking' performances, a 'Midnight Walk' tour of the Yeosu Marine Meteorology Science Museum and Aquarium, and an outdoor candlelight concert.
To enhance visitor convenience, free shuttle buses will run between venues, and special tourist trains by KORAIL will be available. Attendees who verify their participation will also receive discounted admission to major tourist attractions.
Yeosu City also plans to offer tourism packages connecting local attractions via global travel platforms. It is ramping up efforts to attract foreign tourists by inviting international students from Gwangju–Jeonnam universities and foreign workers from local companies.
A city official stated, "This comprehensive K-Wave festival, combining K-Pop, traditional culture, and Yeosu's romantic charm, will help elevate Yeosu's status as a global tourist destination," adding, "We are committed to ensuring a safe and enriching festival experience for both residents and visitors alike."
