Traveling to an unfamiliar place is always exciting, but it can sometimes lead to frustration without prior information.

To address these inconveniences for both citizens and tourists, Yeosu City (Mayor Jung Gi-Myoung) launched 'Yeosuen,' a smart integrated tourism platform combining various tourism information with ICT, in December 2022.

'Yeosuen' is a Smart App that not only allows users to check information on major tourist sites and local events but also to pre-book and pay for various services, including tourism, accommodations, restaurants, and transportation. Additionally, QR check-in and audio guide functions provide an even more convenient travel experience.

The app offers a one-stop solution for real-time flight lookups and city bus location and arrival information. It is also linked to 33 public parking lots that offer a base of one hour of free parking, providing real-time data on availability, fees, and operating hours.

Notably, it supports mobile and point-based payments, and a pre-payment feature for parking allows users to exit immediately without waiting. The parking pre-payment service, along with the specialty product shopping feature, is one of the most popular services on 'Yeosuen.'

Furthermore, the app provides location-based information on nearby amenities such as restrooms, wheelchair and stroller rentals, pet-friendly locations, lockers, nursing rooms, and WiFi hotspots.

Through the 'Smart Planning' feature in 'Yeosuen,' users can receive recommendations and plan their entire itinerary. A real-time complaint reporting function also allows travelers to report any inconveniences immediately.

A multilingual interpretation service, linked to the Korea Tourism Organization's 1330 hotline, is also available, enabling foreign tourists to travel without inconvenience through chat or phone consultations.

For added entertainment, the app includes gamified services. An Augmented Reality (AR) character collection service offers a unique mobile stamp tour where tourists can find and collect 245 AR characters placed throughout Yeosu.

Collecting characters earns points as a reward, which can be used like cash to purchase products or services within the app.

Users can also earn additional points by leaving reviews after their trips or purchases, creating a virtuous cycle of experience sharing and rewards. Additionally, users receive 100 points once daily just for logging into the app.

A luggage delivery service is also supported, allowing tourists to travel more freely and comfortably without being weighed down by heavy bags.

Looking ahead, the city plans to develop a 'K-Tourism Island Pass' linked to the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo. This will provide an integrated service on 'Yeosuen' for booking and paying for transportation (including ferry tickets to major islands), accommodations, food, and experience programs all at once.

A city official stated, "We will continuously enhance the service functions of 'Yeosuen' to provide tangible benefits to both citizens and tourists." They added, "By expanding features related to the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, we will complete a unique smart tourism model distinctive to Yeosu."

Meanwhile, the Yeosu tourism Smart App 'Yeosuen' can be downloaded from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the Apple App Store (for iPhone). To sign up, users can enter their mobile phone number, verify the authentication code received via KakaoTalk, and then input required information such as their name, email, and password. Simple sign-up and login are also available using KakaoTalk, Naver, or Google accounts.
