- Certification plaques to be displayed at restaurants catering to solo diners… Promoting Yeosu's signature cuisine and enhancing convenience
Yeosu City (Mayor Jung Gi-Myoung) announced that it has designated 46 ‘Solo-Friendly Restaurants’ where single-person households and individual travelers can dine comfortably.
This initiative aims to create a dining environment where citizens and tourists dining alone can enjoy Yeosu's diverse culinary offerings without inconvenience.
The city accepted applications from general restaurants within its jurisdiction through both public recruitment and on-site discovery last August, before a selection committee finalized the 46 establishments.
The designated solo-friendly restaurants are evenly distributed near major tourist attractions, including Bongsang-dong Gejang Street, Jinnamgwan Hall, and the area around Yeosu EXPO Station, allowing both tourists and citizens to enjoy a meal for one without feeling uncomfortable.
Yeosu City plans to attach a ‘Solo-Friendly Restaurant Certification Plaque’ to the designated establishments and actively promote them through the city’s official tourism website and the integrated tourism app, ‘YeosuN.’ The city will also continue to provide various forms of support to help establish and operate these restaurants, such as providing single-person tables and promotional assistance.
A list of the designated restaurants is available in the announcements section on the Yeosu City website.
A city official stated, "We hope this designation of solo-friendly restaurants will allow travelers visiting Yeosu alone to comfortably enjoy the city's cuisine." They added, "We will strive to make Yeosu a city where individual tourists want to stay."
