- Discovery and systematization of key proposal tasks through opinion collection from local political circles, institutions, and organizations -
Yeosu City announced that it officially delivered a total of 39 'Yeosu City Future Development Proposal Tasks' to Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Young-rok at the Gwangju-Jeonnam Administrative Integration Provincial Public Hearing held today (27th) at the Yeosu Citizens' Hall, aimed at guaranteeing Yeosu City's practical interests regarding administrative integration.
As discussions on administrative integration intensify, these proposal tasks were organized and systematized into priority tasks through internal departmental reviews and opinion collection from political circles, institutions, and organizations. The goal is to reorganize Yeosu's industry, tourism, transportation, and settlement conditions into a future-oriented model and promote balanced regional development.
In particular, the city emphasized the need to clearly establish institutional mechanisms from the Special Act stage to ensure Yeosu City is not marginalized in the process of establishing metropolitan policies and distributing finances and authority after integration.
A city official stated, "For administrative integration to be an integration that nurtures future competitiveness rather than a simple adjustment of administrative districts, regional practical benefits must be specifically included in the Special Act and national plans." The official added, "We will continuously consult with Jeollanam-do to ensure Yeosu's key pending issues are reflected from the early stages of integration discussions."
Meanwhile, the delivered proposal tasks consist of 20 special case tasks requiring reflection in the Administrative Integration Special Act and 19 key projects requiring reflection in national and metropolitan plans.
The proposal tasks for the Special Act bill suggested special provisions related to ▲rational budget allocation ▲designation as a Marine Tourism Specialized Zone ▲expansion of local medical infrastructure ▲relocation of public institutions to local areas ▲and designation of Investment Promotion Districts. Major key projects included the ▲creation of the Yulchon Future High-tech National Industrial Complex ▲creation of the Yeosu Industrial Complex CCUS Cluster ▲construction of the Hanbando KTX ▲elevation of Yeosu Airport to an International Airport ▲and construction of the International Marine Leisure Tourism Complex Center.
Yeosu City plans to continue consultations with Jeollanam-do and related agencies, as well as gather opinions from local political circles and civil society, while proceeding with official proposals and follow-up responses to higher-level organizations.
