Citywide 'March Focus Action Day' Brings Together Citizens and Merchants
Yeosu City announced that on March 17, it held the 'Yeosu Renaissance Together: Five Key Civic Action Campaign – March Focus Action Day' across the city, including major commercial districts such as Yi Sun-sin Square, Yeomun Cultural Street, and the Heungguk Shopping Area, to foster a citywide atmosphere of practicing price stabilization.
The event was organized to spread a culture of reasonable pricing and friendly service through the voluntary participation of citizens and local businesses, while enhancing Yeosu's urban image ahead of upcoming international events.
Approximately 400 participants—including members of the Civic Action Headquarters and local self-governing organizations—gathered at Yi Sun-sin Square. Local merchant groups, including the Yeosu Small Business Association and the Hygiene Organization Council, also joined the initiative.
Participants conducted street campaigns in densely populated commercial areas, encouraging businesses to join price stabilization efforts and promoting 'Good Price Establishments.' They also delivered messages aimed at building a welcoming, trustworthy city for tourists.
In particular, this civic movement is significant as it aims to improve the city's image through the voluntary practices of citizens and merchants, laying the groundwork to support the successful hosting of international events such as UN Climate Week and the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.
Moving forward, Yeosu City plans to continuously expand practical, everyday initiatives through the Renaissance Civic Movement and foster a citywide atmosphere of collective preparation for international events in partnership with its citizens.
Acting Mayor Jeong Hyeon-gu of Yeosu City stated, "Price stability and a culture of friendly service are crucial elements in enhancing Yeosu's urban competitiveness." He added, "Through the voluntary practices created together by citizens and merchants, we will further enhance our city's image as we prepare for major international events."
