Programs to run from May through October… Additional Wednesday performances and expanded shows in island areas
Yeosu City announced that it will launch the ‘2026 Romantic Busking & Youth Busking’ programs beginning in May as part of its efforts to expand opportunities for enjoying culture in everyday life and to foster a refined cultural city.
This year’s busking programs feature a more diverse lineup than last year, designed to allow citizens to enjoy culture and the arts up close.
First, ‘Romantic Busking’ will be held every Friday and Saturday from May 1 to October 31, starting at 7:30 p.m., in the Marine Park area and around the Romantic Pocha district.
In connection with the ‘UN Climate Week’ events beginning on April 20, the city will also present special Romantic Busking performances at the Yeosu World Expo Site. In addition, during the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, it plans to newly introduce ‘Busking to the Islands,’ which will help create a festive atmosphere for the Expo.
‘Youth Busking’ will take place every Saturday from May 2 to October 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Yeomun Cultural Street, the Ungcheon commercial district, and Soho Dongdong Bridge. In particular, in line with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s expanded ‘Culture Day’ policy, additional performances will be held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month to improve accessibility for citizens.
Acting Mayor Jeong Hyeon-gu of Yeosu City stated, “This year’s busking programs focus on expanding performances to island areas and enabling citizens to enjoy culture and the arts more closely in their daily lives.” He added, “We hope Yeosu’s street performances will serve as an opportunity to bring new vitality to the local community.”
Meanwhile, the city will recruit street performers to participate in the busking programs from April 13 to 30. Detailed information, including how to apply, is available in the notice section of the city’s official website.
